Building for a New Generation

God has given our Pastor, Michael Gantt, a vision and a passion for  multi-generational ministry that will extend the influence of  the Kingdom of God not only into our local community - but to the whole world, and to generations not yet born.  "Children are like arrows in the hand of a mighty man," says the Psalmist and at Agape we are honing our arrows to a sharp edge and training them for true flight, right at the heart of the enemy.  Children aren't just the subject of ministry, the next generation is the heart of our ministry

We must not only protect our children, we must prepare them. We must raise up godly men and women who will penetrate the culture in every venue - government, the judiciary, education, economics, philosophy, and science.

At Agape, we are not just training up preachers and Sunday school teachers, we are raising up a generation of leaders who will impact their culture at every level.  America can be turned again toward God, but not  through the ballot box or in the legislature but as we pass the baton to a generation of godly voices who will call the nation to confession and repentance of our national sin.

We live in critical times for our nation and Agape Christian Fellowship is endeavoring to become a leader in the community calling our nation back to God and believing for a national reformation that will sweep the nation and avert the judgment of God.

A Church in the Heart of the Community
with the Community at Heart

When Jesus came, he came to the forgotten of His generation. The "publicans and sinners", the oppressed, the sick and the poor.  He announced His ministry by declaring, "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me and He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.

Some years ago, Agape was on the brink of building a new church in an upscale neighborhood.  At that time we were in an old building in a run down part of town and our thought was to build a world class ministry center in a much nicer and safer part of town.   However, as the time for the move approached the leadership of the church became convinced that God's call for us was not to move to a better neighborhood, but to stay and to help make our neighborhood a better place to live.

Through strong alliances with members of the community, and an anointed ministry to the poor, our neighborhood is a better place to live and we are pleased to be a part of our local neighborhood community.  With hot meals, and bag groceries, ministry to the homeless, emergency clothing, and children's meals programs, "downtown"  is  a place we are glad to call home.  Many members of our local community now partner with the church in making a difference where we live.

In the book of Acts we see the believers in the early church living in, worshiping in, ministering in the local community and "finding favor with the people."  It is our desire that the residents of downtown Brattleboro and the surrounding area will see that Agape Christian Fellowship is a church with the community at heart.

Around the World for Jesus!

George and Sandy Handy are almost lost in a sea of happy faces in Nairobi, Kenya.  George is an elder at Agape, one of our treasured gifts from the Lord.  He and his faithful wife, Sandy, have traveled all over the world, representing Agape on numerous mission trips to Africa and Brazil. They are especially loved by all the children they meet.  Here, they are frolicking with just a few of the hundreds of children that were immediately attracted to this couple who live with the light of Jesus in their eyes.

As our vision for our part in the evangelization of the world crystallized, Agape committed to being much more than a "checkbook" for missions.  Right now, several families from the church are serving full time in missions, and many others regularly take part in short term missions around the world to places like Peru, Brazil, Kenya, Uganda, and Sudan, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and  El Salvador.

Agape is materially involved in the support of mission projects in Peru, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Nova Scotia.  Our pastor has developed strong partnership relationships with ministries in Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.  The prayer that was uttered in the early days of Agape's founding, "Around the World for Jesus" is becoming a reality.
